MARK + ALEXI-NOELLE

Inspired by clothing’s “high fashion + low fashion” trend and by the emotional success of numerous Youtubers, I’ve been experimenting with what I call “lo-fi” + “hi-fi” work.

By mixing in others’ personal cell phone footage (lo-fi footage) with my own production (high-quality footage, high-quality interviews or sound), I’m hoping to create films that are truly authentic but also truly moving. This was my first attempt. Here’s the Vimeo writeup below:

When two of my close friends married each other back in September, they wanted a very simple film to play at their wedding reception to commemorate their families, their friends, and their story together.

"Very simple," they said, "here are the videos and photos from our phones---"

So, we sat down, talked about life and love, and I put this film together using those videos and photos from their phones.

But the beautiful thing about lives lived with love is that they remain beautiful, no matter how simple.

So, here to commemorate friendship, and marriage, and a Love beyond anything else: a simple film for Mark and Alexi-Noelle. Cheers and blessings!

MOSIE MINGO

Continuing the experiment of “lo-fi” + “hi-fi” in search of authenticity, this piece commemorates both the first year of my niece’s life as well as her parent’s anticipation for her birth. The film combines footage from both professional cameras and from the lo-fi everyday cellphone footage of ordinary people.
